A Polar Vortex Mindset Shift

Texas is getting a beat down by this once in a generation Polar Vortex bringing ice, snow, and frigid temperatures. The electric grid has failed leaving over 2 Million Texans without power and in some cases without water due to frozen pipes. The kids are at home after already being off all of last week for their February break, and they are a little stir crazy.

Is my mindset being tested? Absolutely.

I have to admit as strong a mindset as I’ve built over the years. Today has tested it to some extent. When I realized mindset was off the rails, I knew I had to get centered.

I poured into my work, my client coaching conversations, knocked off some big projects that have been looming in the background. I put myself into action thus changing the way I felt about the day, and forced a change in my thinking. Mindset can be changed by simply getting into action.

Are you struggling today with mindset? Get into action, and experience your mindset shift.

BTW – How often do you see sunshine, palm trees, a live oak, and a roof covered in snow in Texas? The answer is NEVER. For my fellow Texans, I pray for your safety as this isn’t over yet. Texans are tough…no doubt.

Coach Jeremy's Thoughts

Take Action

Written By: Coach Jeremy Williams

I would like to share my thoughts on taking action both in your business and in life. You can hear my full thoughts on this topic by listening to the above video. Taking action, and more importantly the right action, in your business and life is the only way you will ever get results. I’ve now been coaching business owners since 2010, and what I’ve found taught and coached from other companies is that business owners should focus on the way they think and feel. As a business coach, there are a couple of things I disagree with this approach.

  1. Most people who call themselves coaches are not equipped through training and experience to deal with the thoughts and feelings of people. This is a proceed with caution area because in some cases a coach can do more harm than good. Coaches will often times wade into these areas not prepared, or saying they have experience to address particular issues that they have no business attempting.
  2. When there is an emphasis on thinking and feelings it leads to individuals that take the following approach to their business. Aim, aim, aim, aim, aim, ready, ready, aim, ready, aim, ready, and then fire. I’ve witnessed over the years many business owners that thought and felt their way out of their particular line of business.

For the above reasons, this is why I focus on coaching people to take action. When business owners can take the right actions in their businesses, it leads to results. Results lead to reinforcement of current programming, or it can also lead to a change in programming. Programming leads to thinking. Thinking leads to feelings, and feelings lead to action. Based on the action and previous results, this can include a change in the actions taken to net different results.

You may be reading this and thinking this is the same model used by those that start with programming, thinking, and feelings. The answer is yes, it is that I’ve found business owners over the years have been more successful when they’ve started on the wheel with action. It eliminates overthinking, it is based more in instinct, and results are netted much quicker.
